The Company always considers the importance at integrating environmental, labor practices, community development and customer protection as a set of priorities to be inline into its day-to-day operations. The Company believes that its social responsibility programs will ensure the sustainability of the Company’s business in the long run, enhance the quality of people’s life in the surrounding communities and safeguard the environment to ensure a better future generation.
The Company’s community and environmental stewardship programs are conducted through its Partnership and Community Development Program (Program Kemitraan dan Bina Lingkungan/PKBL), implemented under the coordination of the Corporate Secretary Division.
Through the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS), every year the shareholders approve the Company’s PKBL Working Plan and Budget submitted by Company’s management, with the following category :
In addition to Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL) activities, PT SMI has been participated in CSR activities since 2009, using the company’s expenses for CSR funds (non PKBL funds). PT SMI employees were also actively involved in these CSR activities:
- Donations for earthquake victims in Padang, West Sumatra, colaborated with Dana Kemanusiaan Kompas (DKK) and Local Government;
- Donations for Mount Merapi eruption victims in form of household appliances , books for library and playground equipment for victims shelter built by Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Foundation, in Hargobinangun village, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Resources of this donations was originally intended for PT SMI’s employees outing activity, with additional donations from PT SMI’s employees. Some of PT SMI’s employees were directly involved in giving assistance at the disaster location.
- Since 2012, we have been conducting a social movement named “SMI Berbagi (SMI Cares)”, which is held once every three months and is involving our employees as well.
