As a Special Mission Vehicle under the Ministry of Finance, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur ("PT SMI") (Persero) is committed to support the Government of Indonesia in accelerating national infrastructure development through consistently implementing the sustainable development approach. Therefore, PT SMI is determined to promote gender equality and social inclusion in line with Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2000 regarding Gender Mainstreaming in National Development as an interpretation of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 1984 concerning Ratification of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women which internationally known as CEDAW.
To implement this commitment, PT SMI applies the Mainstreaming of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion approach as part of its strategy and business processes. It aims to encourage all relevant parties, to wit everyone, both women and men, from all different social groups based on religion, ethnicity, caste/class, economy, age, special needs, and geography, to become part of planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in internal operation and business activities of PT SMI.

Support in promoting gender equality and social inclusion is also applied to PT SMI's business pillars which include financing and investment, project development and advisory services, as well as other activities involving external parties progressively and considering the urgency along with the needs of (potential) borrowers /investee/client.
To brace the aforementioned, PT SMI implements a policy for Mainstreaming Gender Equality and Social Inclusion as a reference to manage Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, established a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Working Group to respond relevant issues related to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, and developed an internal gender equality baseline study as a basis for implementation of gender equality and social inclusion mainstreaming.
Through strengthening the promotion of gender equality and social inclusion to spur the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) no. 5: Gender Equality, PT SMI expects that all company’s operations and business activities can deliver a wider social impact.
