PT SMI Distributes Financing to Regions Worth IDR 40 Trillion

PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) reports that it continues to provide various supports for regional development, one of which is through regional loan activities. President Director of PT SMI Edwin Syahruzad said that the regional loan activity had been carried out since 2016 through regular loans.

The regional lending activity also developed very rapidly when the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program was introduced under the name of Regional PEN loans. "This is enough to still increase the regional loan portfolio," said Edwin at the 100 Indonesian Economist Workshop, Wednesday (7/9).

Edwin reported, as of July 31, 2022, his party had distributed financing to the regions with a value of IDR 40 trillion with a total outstanding or receivables of IDR 30 trillion. The regional loan support is an alternative for the regions to accelerate regional infrastructure development. "Until July 2022, loans to the regions have reached IDR 40 trillion, with an outstanding IDR 30 trillion," said Edwin.

As for loans to regions amounting to IDR 40 trillion, PT SMI received IDR 30 trillion from the State Budget (APBN), while the remaining IDR 10 trillion came from PT SMI's corporate funds. He said that with the acceleration of infrastructure development, it would be able to help the region in improving the quality of public services.

Moreover, public services in the regions, such as the provision of drinking water, sanitation, and solid waste, which are regional authorities or authorities, are still lagging behind and require capital. "Therefore, PT SMI made alternative financing for the area for one thing, namely the quality of public services," he said.

In the future, Edwin said, PT SMI will create a program-based loan scheme with the hope of encouraging policy and institutional reforms with the aim of achieving development program targets in the regions. "Besides our support in providing or facilitating government-private partnership projects (PPP), we are also quite involved in the preparation of regional PPP projects," he concluded.
