Jakarta, 19 May 2022 – PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (“PT SMI”) fulfills the government's commitment to encourage the achievement of the Net-Zero Emission (NZE) target of 2060 by making efforts to reduce global warming (carbon footprint) in Indonesia through its operational activities, one of which is by switching to Electric-Based Vehicles (“KBL”) from the currently used oil-fueled (BBM) vehicles. This transfer is carried out in stages through the purchase of 2 (two) units of Hyundai Ioniq vehicles from PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia as an initial transfer. This step is also a form of PT SMI's support for the national automotive industry which is currently developing. The symbolic activity for the launching of PT SMI's program for the gradual shift from BBM operational vehicles to electric-based vehicles was carried out by Management Representatives from PT SMI, PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia, and the Sahid Sudirman Center Building, on Thursday (19/5), at the PT SMI Office. , with the direct witness of the Head of Sub-Directorate of Separated State Assets I, Directorate General of State Assets, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.
PT SMI's Director of Operations and Finance - Darwin Trisna Djajawinata, in his speech stated, "PT SMI fully supports the efforts made by the government in realizing the achievement of NZE in Indonesia, one of which is by making a gradual transition from the company's operational vehicles to electric-based vehicles, namely from PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia, where the idea for this initiative came from SMIers (Employees of PT SMI). We at Management strongly support this idea and are grateful that the NZE concept has been embedded in our individual employees. We also thank the Shareholders, in this case the Ministry of Finance, PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia, and the Management of the Sahid Sudirman Center Building for the support that has been given to PT SMI for the implementation of this initiative in order to achieve the goals of NZE”.
Present directly at the symbolization event, the Head of the Sub-Directorate of State Assets Separated I, the Directorate General of State Assets of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia – Nofiansyah, who represented the Ministry of Finance as a shareholder, expressed his appreciation and support for the initiative launched by PT SMI. “We are proud and very supportive of PT SMI towards NZE through its efforts. We are also always grateful because PT SMI always initiates good ideas, which of course will be very useful for the sustainability of our generation in the future,” he said.
On the same occasion, in his remarks the Director of Sales & Marketing of PT Hyundai Mobil Indonesia - Hendrik Wiradjaja, also stated "We express our gratitude and positive appreciation for PT SMI's initiative, to commit and support the program of diverting its operational vehicles from oil-fueled ( fuel) to be electricity-based. We at PT Hyundai will also be committed to and fully support PT SMI's plan for this NZE goal."
In collaboration with office building managers in the NZE campaign this time, the Property Manager of the Sahid Sudirman Center Building - Agus Kamajaya stated, "We are very grateful and appreciate this PT SMI initiative. This initiative is not the first from PT SMI, but many initiatives have been launched and new things have been presented to us. The commitment from PT SMI regarding smart living, eco living, environmental, sustainability, including waste management (zero waste) initiated by PT SMI to us has also become an example for other owners of the Sahid Sudirman Center Building. Hopefully, the initiation of the transfer of PT SMI's operational vehicles to electric-based vehicles can also be transmitted to other building owners," he said.
Not only limited to operational activities, where PT SMI has also developed many other initiatives such as making efficiency efforts in its consumption including water, energy, and waste management, efforts and commitments to support the achievement of sustainable development and clean energy transition are also carried out by PT SMI in business implementation. Through the company's three business pillars, namely (1) Financing and Investment, (2) Project Development, and (3) Consulting Services, PT SMI as a National Development Financing Company also supports the development of environmentally friendly infrastructure projects in Indonesia, one of which is in the renewable energy sector.
